Simple Tastes

Cross-country runners don't need a lot of different stuff, but what they do need they need a LOT of.

Wall of Sound

Two trips to Ikea, 1 hour assembling furniture, 1.5 hours hooking up and hiding cords, .5 hours moving records, but I've finally got a suitable place for my music.  I christened the arrangement w/ side two of "Born to Run."

Absolutely perfect

It's hard to take pictures of the weather, but in contrast to yesterday, today was possibly the most perfect weather day ever recorded anywhere.  75 and sunny all day long.  About time fall got here.

Rain Showers

Here we see the water coming out of the rainspout with such force that it's hitting the concrete and spraying into the air.  It was pretty exciting for awhile there.

Atlanta Ekiden

Team "Phidippides Nutz" (I had nothing to do with the team name) post-race, mugging for the camera.  Get it?  Haha

I'm a Man

I changed my headlight today.  It was pretty easy.  Did I still feel pretty manly?  YUP!

September 24, 2010

Try two

I forgot to take a picture when my first blog post went up, so I'll take a picture of my second one.

"'Stalker' sounds negative"

Teamwork

First Annual Emory XC Baton Challenge -- pack running is sexy running.  There's actually a fifth person hidden behind Tim.  (Who hides behind Tim?!)

Long Way From Home

Since the NFL -- who makes a hefty chunk of money from taxpayer-financed stadiums -- has decided to give DirecTV -- a service that a large number of Americans can't get even if they would like to because of their geography, etc. -- a monopoly on NFL Sunday Ticket, I get to enjoy Broncos games via the 850KOA website.

(Actually I don't mind it that much -- the announcers are much better.  But, still, something about the situation doesn't seem right.)

A rare Saturday

I'm pretty sure we were the only people at Taco Mac who cared at all about the AFA-OU game.  But they were still nice enough to turn it on for us.

September 17, 2010

A new low

Hard to believe that this sign even needs to exist at a place like Emory.

September 16, 2010

Clean and Classy

The promise of a more organized life.

Morning Lights

I'm starting to enjoy my morning runs in Piedmont Park much more than I expected to.  It's a pretty great view -- especially when you've got the whole park to yourself!

Working Hard

This morning everyone was dragging.  So, in lieu of the afternoon core session we played Duck-Duck-Goose, hit the ice baths, and tanned for a bit.  Everyone left in much better spirits.

Leaking Ceiling

Kevin enjoying his duties as the Sandy Springs manager.

Kickoff Sunday

Eagles, Patriots, Bears, Redskins (not pictured:  Steelers, Broncos, Bucs), nothing brings people together like football.

September 11, 2010

Assistant to the Assistant

Alex clearly knows how to dress the part of a track coach -- I am hoping Emory will start using this on their official website for the coaches' picture.

Mailbox Surprise

A great surprise to end the week -- just in time for a long drive in a van filled with sleeping college kids.

Bloat Cuisine

Now THAT's football watching food.

September 8, 2010

Baking

Tonight I made brownies.  Because we had a "Martha Stewart" run at the store today?  No -- that was a little odd.  Mostly because I really like brownies.

Graveyard Shift

Early morning mile repeats in the Decatur Cemetary -- soon to be an Emory XC tradition.

September 6, 2010

Macon Labor Day 5k

Perfect weather + downhill course = a much faster time than expected.  And a lot of fun.  Next up:  Ekiden.

Football Primer

Time to get ready for the football season -- no need to wait for games.

September 4, 2010

Sewanee

A smart running team is a good-looking team.  Good start to the season, so let's hope we can keep it going.

September 3, 2010

Fargo

Not sure it calmed me down before the meet tomorrow, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  And the wood-chipper was much less prominently involved than my sister's recap of it led me to believe.

September 2, 2010

The Nook

The best patio in Midtown?  Who knows, we sat at the bar.  But that's what their website claims at least.

Technology is wonderful

Back in the day you had to tape record off the radio.  And well said, Alison.
