Closing Time

We have a customer (who shall remain nameless) who insists on coming 10 min before closing.  She does it on days that we close at 6.  She does it on days that we close at 7.  She does it on days that we close at 8.  Today, miraculously enough, she seemed aware of that fact and left on time.  Small miracles.

Pool weather

Today was an actual day off ... with nothing that I needed to get done.  Apparently I was the only one as the pool was empty.

My first road race in awhile was pretty fun.  Kinda slow, but that's alright (and Chris won, which was fun).

Back to mainland

Our flight was delayed, but unfortunately not cancelled so we had to come back to real life.

Vieques (Day 2)

You could say that Vieques was a little off the beaten path.  

Vieques

Giving credit to my running-trained heart after an ill-fated kayak trip to the BioBay.  Supposedly one of the most beautiful places in the world, torrential rain, high winds, darkness and lightning will leave it linked in my mind more to things like my adventures with the Air & Space Museum's escalator at age 6.

Old San Juan (Day 2)

Happy hour at the Gallery Inn (see?  I told you that place was random and cool.  The bird's drinking Peroni, by the way); after I finished my drink with the bird we sat and talked with the owners for a long time.  Among other things, they told us about when the Obama's used the Inn for their primary campaign in Puerto Rico.

Old San Juan

The view from our hotel in Old San Juan.  The other direction there was a huge party in "Little Amsterdam; where you can buy anything you want and the police don't patrol."  We decided not to attend.

Down from the mountain

Erstwhile bull rider and aspiring mountain man (or maybe the other way around) Ward stopped by the store to say hi today, and to show off his awesome beard (from the mountains) and broken arm (from the bull riding).

Rainy Drive

I may have mentioned it before, but rain makes drivers in Atlanta even more crazy than usual -- including this ambulance that was VERY upset that people were getting out his way, BUT not in the direction that he wanted them to!  (note:  I was not moving when I took this, FYI)

Spicy night

Or spicy wine, at least.  My main philosophy on wine is the spicier, the better and this one is pretty darn good.

Missing CO

No rain -- just an easy 65 minute run and I felt like I was wearing a swimsuit.  Also, you never get that crusted on, taste the salt feel here that you do while running in CO.  And that's too bad.

Missed opportunity

I was in line at Publix today and saw a Barney DVD entitled "Let's Play Outside"  I took a picture on my phone, intending to comment on the new low it represented.  However, when I got home the picture wasn't there.  So ... footwear week continues with a picture of my new running shoes, which took me on a very nice run today.

Sweater weather?

Given that I live in a city with an year-round average high of 72 degrees, I decided that I own entirely too many sweaters.  Hopefully Goodwill will find a better use for them.

Summertime

It's been pretty warm here for a couple months, but now that I have new sandals, summer can officially start.

Give Them a Chance

I was bored at the store today and decided I would make it my official "Give New Balance A Chance" day.  So every customer who I helped tried on a New Balance shoe (or at least almost everyone -- a few unique situations).  The results?  Scientific-ish proof the New Balance shoes don't feel good compared side-by-side with other shoes.

If it isn't cat urine, it's red wine ... my carpets have had a rough few weeks.
